Produced by Trinity CineAsia, Filming East Festival, and UK-China Film Collab, the Chinese Cinema Season is an online film screening event lasting for three months (12 Feb to 23 May 2021). It is the first and biggest online screening specialising in Chinese language films in the UK and Ireland.
Showcasing more than 50 films, Chinese Cinema Season offers fast and unprecedented access to the best Chinese cinema, as well as enriching the diversity of films available on VOD.
What should I do to start?
You need to register an account (free) to start off. All you need to do is fill up some valid basic personal information.
How old do I need to be to have an account?
16 or older.
What happens if I forget my password?
Simply click “Forgot My Password” on the Sign-In page, enter the email address you use when you create an account, then a link to reset your password will be sent to you.
Is there any region restriction on the platform?
All screenings are only available in the UK (inc. the oversea territories) and Ireland, apart from “The History of Shanghai Animation Film Studio”, which has global access.
Is there a limited time of watching a film?
Yes, once you start to watch the film, you have 48 hours to finish.
When will the access of the film / pass expired?
The access is available once the payment is completed, and it expires after 72 days.
What is My List?
This is your personal reminder of films you are interested in. When browsing you can select “Add to My List” and the film will be saved here.
What is My Library?
Once you pay for content it is automatically added to your library. It will remain here until the end of the specified rental period.
How many devices am I limited to?
Accounts are limited to two devices or browsers. You can change devices/browsers later on, but will need to deregister those connected to your account first.
Can I start watching on one device and continue on another?
Yes, as long as the device is compatible (see Technical Help) and the film is still within the Watch Window.
Can I share my film with someone else?
Films you have rented can only be watched using your own account.
Can I watch the film more than once?
No, once you finish the film, you cannot watch it again unless you rent it again.
Can I control the film (e.g. pause, rewind, etc.) once I’ve started?
Yes, you can control the film while watching it.
Are there any subtitles?
Yes, all films have English subtitles. Some films have both English and Chinese subtitles. While some subtitles are burnt in, others can be controlled by the viewer.
There are 20 films in total on the platform, however, during the Season, new films will be added from time to time, and also films will be taken down after a certain period. Please check the platform and our social media regularly to follow the information.
How can I buy tickets?
Simply move your cursor to the film you want to watch, then click “Rent”, you can directly pay and watch the film.
How can I buy Passes?
Please find “Passes” on the menu bar of the Home page, click in and you can buy any pass you’d like to on this page. Then you can watch all films covered by the Pass.
Do I have to enter my credit/debit card details each time I pay for a film?
Yes. We do not store card details as part of your account so you will need to enter these for each payment.
What happens when I pay for a film?
The film will be added to your library for you to watch when you are ready, or you can press play to watch immediately. You will also be e-mailed an electronic receipt for your payment.
How do I use Promo Codes?
Before you pay for a film you will be offered the chance to redeem any valid promo codes.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If you mistakenly make a payment, please Contact us for a refund.
